Exodus has some of the greatest stories and works of God found in the Bible. Some people have described it as the “gospel of the Old Testament” because in Exodus we see God providing a way of escape from bondage for his people. In just the second book of the Bible God gives us a preview of his great salvation that would later be fulfilled in Jesus Christ!
Because of the movement involved in the book of Exodus ( the people of Israel left Egypt and headed toward the Promised Land) the tagline of this series is “Forward with God.” God wants to take each of us from where we are—trapped by the pressures of life with no hope of escape—to a new place. He is able to deliver us from the things that hold us captive, whatever they may be. He has a destination in mind for each of us. And he is powerfully able to take us there. This is good news for each of us—it truly is the gospel in the Old Testament.
To get to where God wants us to be we first need to allow God to act, like he did so powerfully in the Passover, convincing Pharaoh to let the Israelites leave Egypt. But then we need to get moving, doing what God calls us to do. Are you ready to move forward with God? Are you ready to follow God even it means being led somewhere you’ve never been before? I hope you are. You need not journey alone. God has promised to be with you, and you’ll be traveling in the company of his people.
